Hardcover copy of the 84-page book "The Book Of Brazzmatazz", a steampunk-themed fiction book about the band and its characters!
Written with love by Nick De Meersman and illustrated with passion by Maarten Vanhoucke.
(E-book pre-order via Kobo)
What kind of person joins a band, a project, like Brazzmatazz and what kind of persona does that create? Remarkable doesn’t quite cover it, but it comes close! In an attempt to translate the boundless dynamic of the band into words, the story of Brazzmatazz is a whimsical imagining of how the stage personas of the band members might have found each other and formed a crew.
"He would no longer be an engineer, but would instead become the operator of the most complex and revolutionary machine ever created: the Brazzmatazz."
- Lody Tung
MAARTEN VANHOUCKE
Maarten got fooled into doing this project not unlike most characters in this story, thanks to the crazy energy of this band and its leader. Maarten is a graphic designer and graphic storyteller, armed with pencils, a fountain pen and a wild imagination. He has some experience in animated movies, storyboarding, and stage design. He has a never-ending love for retro science-fiction and steampunk. He was an early Brazzmatazz member in the trombone section. Maarten started having visions of movie fragments, storyboard panels and illustrations upon reading the first few draft stories by Nick De Meersman. Right away he started and could not stop materializing these ideas and claims to have fully enjoyed this journey.
NICK DE MEERSMAN
Combining a passion for stories, a love of myths and folklore and an academic background as a historian; it was no surprise Nick tried his hand at writing. While working on his second novel, a sequel to his first, Nick was tapped on the shoulder by friends that Brazzmatazz’ bandleader Sanne Werkers was looking for a writer for a project. Impressed by the energy of the band, Nick went to work and sought to recreate that energy in his writing. He considers it an homage to his literary inspiration Robert E Howard whose talent was lost too soon.
